Full Set of Callaway X-22 Irons

The 2009 Callaway X-22 Irons is atop of the most popular irons list.

The long irons of Callaway x-22 are fairly long. I’ll grant you that these are easy to hit for long irons. There are definitely some long irons at golfleading.com that are longer, and some that feel better, but these are the easiest most golfers have hit in some time. They’re strong enough for the stinger shot, and they’re easy enough to act as a tee box alternative for those who do not trust their driver.

The mid irons are pretty flexible. They are fairly long, but the real payoff is once again in their ease of use. You can work the ball left and or right with this one. That makes them dependable pin seekers from long distance, as well as great set up and approach clubs. The feel at impact, though not as exacting as say a forged blade, is informative enough to allow you to make on course adjustments to your swing du jour, working of the ball, etc..

The short irons and wedges are definitely laser like. All the clubs in this set have a huge safe hitting zone as well as a respectable sweetspot. Callaway Golf practically invented variable face thickness technology, and x-22 irons at golfleading.com are wonderful example. You’ll get a lot of “POP” off the face of any club in this set. Their trademark shorter hosel also allows for more perimeter weighting for forgiveness, as well as less hosel to get snagged by the rough and twist the club head open. But the wedges provide one of my mine gripes with this set of clubs, and the one that cost them a full star.

In all, Callaway x-22 irons are great clubs for the right handed mid-capper. I bet you’ll fairly impressed with their overall feel, solid build quality, and fair amount of workability.
