Gutter Cleaning Made Easy Using Your Power Washing Equipment

It is the job most homeowners hate: cleaning your debris-filled gutters. Unclogging your gutters and freeing them from the leaves, sticks, bugs, twigs and other garbage that collects in their crevices throughout the year can be a messy and tedious job. But wait! There is no need to spend your entire weekend perched atop a ladder, unclogging your gutters with rags, a broom and your garden hose. Make gutter cleaning quick and easy by using a pressure washer.

Simply attaching a telescopic wand and a gutter cleaner wand that can get inside of those tough to reach gutter and downspout crevices, to your power washer, you will be able to flush out those gutters in no time, leaving them free of the debris that can damage your roof and leave your home vulnerable to wind and water damage during the next bad storm.

Your power washer can be a terrific cleaning aid when trying to clean your home’s gutters. The first thing you will need to do when cleaning your gutters with a power washer is to check the top part of your gutters for loose debris. Remove any leaves or sticks by hand, then use your power washer to rinse out any remaining garbage left stuck to the inside of the gutters.

Continue your gutter cleaning regime by flushing out your downspouts with your pressure washer and gutter cleaner wand. The best way to do this is to point a stream of water with a high GPM through the downspout. The power of the water should force any sticks, leaves or other debris that may be stuck through the spout. As soon as you see that the water is running through the spout easily, you will know that the spout is clear and can move onto the next one.

The final step to your gutter cleaning job is to re-run the power washer through the gutters to take care of any leftover debris that could be stuck in them. Once you notice that the water being poured into the gutters is running through the newly cleared downspouts, you will know that they are all cleared of any remaining debris.

There are two times every year when you should take the time to clean your gutters:

1. The early spring after the harsh winter winds have left debris in them

2. The late fall after the leaves have all fallen off of any nearby trees

Making sure all of your gutters and downspouts are cleared will leave you with the peace of mind to know that your home will not be susceptible to water damage that is often caused when debris blocks ice from melting properly, which can damage to the roof, and when rainwater is not drained properly, and is left to seep through window cracks and roof seems.

Keeping your gutters clear of any type of debris is the best way to keep the exterior of your home in tip-top shape, and using your power washer with gutter cleaner wand accessory to clean your gutters is the most time effective way to get the job done quickly and easily.

Tri Colori mini pizza’s – made with verdi, bianca and rosso pesto! Low Fodmap

It was national pizza day last week and I decided to focus on the three colours of the Italian flag and make three colours of pesto and use small gluten free pizza bases – one is just enough for a nice lunch served with a fresh green salad.

Verdi Pesto

Ingredients:

I bag of basil leaves

40g of oil

20g of pine nuts

20g Parmesan

salt + pepper to taste

Bianca Pesto

Ingredients:

30g pine nuts

30g Parmesan

30g clear oil

1 slice of gluten free bread

salt + pepper to taste

Rosso pesto

Ingredients:

2 roasted red peppers

10 basil leaves

30g pine nuts

30g Parmesan

30g oil

Salt + Pepper to taste

Method for all the pesto’s

Weigh out all the ingredients and blend into a paste. For the bianca pesto add a little water if this is too thick during blending. Simple! Do taste it before you add any salt because the parmesan may produce enough saltiness for your taste. These pesto recipes produce enough for a 7 inch pizza but can also be added to pasta for a lovely flavoured dish. Remember if you have problems with foods containing fats affecting your bowel do use the pesto sparingly.

Pizza’s

Verde Pizza

Spread the pesto on the base and add a small amount of mozzarella (one or two strips), basil leaves and one sliced olive. Sprinkle with Parmesan and cook in a hot oven for 10-15 minutes.

Bianca Pizza

Spread the pesto on the base and add a small amount of mozzarella (one or two strips), pine nuts and sliced Parma ham (do be careful about what meats you choose for pizza – check for wheat, onion and garlic in preserved meats and sausages.) Sprinkle with Parmesan and cook in a hot oven for 10-15 minutes.

Rosso Pizza

Spread the pesto on the base and add a small amount of mozzarella (one or two strips), pine nuts and sliced roasted red pepper and slices of Parma ham. Sprinkle with Parmesan and cook in a hot oven for 10-15 minutes.

These little pizzas can also be sliced into 4-6 pieces and used as a small appetizer with drinks at parties too. Enjoy Pizza day!

Home Made Eczema Treatments – How To Make Your Own Eczema Remedies At Home

Some people find that having eczema, no matter how common it actually is, can be pretty embarrassing. The appearance of dry, white flakes on any part of the body and the itch that usually comes with these flakes can often make a person not want to go out and be with friends and other people. This also means that a lot of individuals avoid going out in public and therefore do not buy remedies for such a problem in public places. This is where home made eczema treatments can come in handy.

If you find yourself suffering from this inherited skin problem and you do not want people to know or see you with the symptoms that come with it, you will be happy to know that you can actually remedy your eczema woes at home. All you will need are a few basic ingredients that can actually be found in your kitchen, your bathroom or your garden. To start off, let us tackle the simplest remedy for eczema.

One of the remedies some people find effective when it comes to eczema is the cold compress. While this treatment does not actually remove the flakes and keep them away, this can help ease the itch that comes with the problem. Cold compresses can also help you keep the area moisturized which can then help reduce the appearance of those pesky, dry flakes.

Another one of the home made eczema treatments you can try involves the use of a common ingredient you can easily find in your kitchen cabinets and this is oatmeal. All you need to do is to grind four cups of whole, uncooked oats in a blender. You will then need to sprinkle the powdered oats into a warm tub and soak yourself in it for fifteen minutes. Rinse off with warm water and dab your skin dry.

If your eczema problem is found on your elbows or on areas that can be easily soaked in a basin of water with some powdered oats, you can do so as well. Simply reduce the amount of water and oats needed for this treatment and soak the infected area for fifteen minutes. Pat the area dry after this remedy.

Coconut oil is good for more than just sauteing or frying stuff. It can also be used to help treat eczema. What you need to do is to get a clean cotton ball or cotton square and saturate this with some coconut oil. Virgin coconut oil is better if you have it but plain, old coconut oil will work just fine if you don’t. Just apply the coconut oil soaked cotton to the infected area and leave the oil to moisturize the dry spot and to soften the dry flakes on it.

If you have a garden and one of the plants in that garden is an aloe vera plant, then you are in luck. Aloe vera is a very effective remedy for eczema. To make home made eczema treatments from aloe vera, you simply need to scoop out the gooey substance found inside each leaf and liquify this in a blender. This substance can be kept in the refrigerator for days in a clean, closed container. Apply this home-made gel whenever you need to.
