Best Acne Remedy – Top Five Do’s and Don’ts When it Comes to Choosing the Perfect Acne Remedy

There are many acne remedies that people tell you are the best acne remedy of all, but sometimes they will end up harming your skin more than healing it. Here I’ll show you how to know whether a product is good for your skin or bad for it, and whether you should use a particular product to treat your acne.

The first rule of thumb you need to know when choosing the best acne remedy is how harsh it is. If you have to get a prescription from a doctor for the acne remedy, this is your first clue that it might be too strong for your skin or your stomach. Secondly, these types of remedies often have adverse side effects on your body, like giving you dry, intensely flaky skin and – ouch – more zits!

1. Alcohol: Don’t EVER use alcohol to clean up your zits! Alcohol is too harsh on the skin, and it only strips the skin of all oils. It doesn’t actually take away your acne. When you strip your skin’s oils like this, both the bad oils and the good oils are taken away, making your skin work overtime to moisturize your skin, which, believe it or not, is necessary if you’re going to get rid of acne.

2. Toothpaste: I’m not saying you should never use toothpaste, but if you must, use it in small amounts. Some ingredients in the toothpaste aren’t so helpful to the skin, and like alcohol, can simply strip your skin of necessary elements and leave it bare.

3. Lemon juice: Lemon juice is a good alternative to some of the stronger astringents for acne, but you might want to tone it down with rose water or similar liquid, as it can sting your sensitive skin if you take it straight. Usually, you’ll want to use fresh lemon juice over the concentrate you get pre-bottled, but both will work.

4. Aloe vera: Straight aloe vera juice and chilled aloe vera gel are both great ways to cool down the swelling of your acne and soothe the redness. It also has a cleansing effect on your skin as well, so it’s an all-around great acne remedy either way you look at it.

5. Acne diet: What you eat can really have an impact on how much acne you have to deal with. The wrong foods can cause body acne all over, and too greasy of foods can make your face extra oily.

Start by working from the inside out with an acne diet, and you will find the topical treatments will work a lot better in the future. I highly recommend you check out the best acne remedy right here at http://www.easyskintreatment.com/acnefree, and make sure you sign up for the newsletter for great acne tips and thorough acne product reviews.

A Poison Ivy Remedy For Fast Healing

If you have ever searched the internet for a poison ivy remedy, there are many sites that tout their own product.  Other sites offer no substance in their suggestions, only anecdotal evidence that cannot be relied on.  The reality is, no single remedy works for everyone.  If you have this skin dermatitis, there are some remedies that work more often than others.

Prevention

The single best poison ivy remedy is to simply not come into contact with the poisonous plant.  Make a point to learn what the plant looks like and try to avoid it while outdoors.  Wearing boots, long socks and pants can go a long ways towards keeping the oils from coming into contact with your skin.  When removing articles of clothing that you suspect have oil from the plant on them, try to minimize contact with the clothing or shoe laces by wearing a pair of disposable gloves or using a plastic bag.  Once the clothing is off, it needs to be washed in hot water using a strong soap.

Soaps and Water

If you come into contact with poison ivy, the sooner you can get rid of the oil from your skin, the less of an allergic reaction you are going to have.  If you can get to cold running water within ten to fifteen minutes of contact, the best poison ivy remedy is to get the part of your body that made contact under running water for about five to ten minutes.  This rinses away and dilutes the oil before it has a chance to be absorbed into the skin.

If you are sensitive or more time has passed there are a number of soaps that are specifically designed to break down the oils in poison ivy.  These soaps break down the oils and are able to pull or leach the oil out of the skin.  They can be quite drying as they tend to pull out all the oils but are the best poison ivy remedy you can buy.

Helping the Itch

If you realize days later that you have poison ivy, there are a couple of remedies that help.  First of all, the soaps can still help and you should use them on your hands if you relent and scratch at the affected areas.  It does not take much oil to cause a reaction and by scratching you can transfer the poison ivy’s toxic oil to other parts of your body if you forget and scratch.  There are a couple products designed to cover and protect the area as the oil naturally breaks down.  Some natural products such as aloe vera and tea tree oil can help with itching, inflammation and can also help break down the oils.

Topical Dermatitis – A Cream Is Your Remedy

Topical creams are the most accessible eczema treatments. Most of them don’t require prescriptions and can therefore be bought over-the-counter. With the right choice of a topical dermatitis cream and its proper application, it is almost guaranteed that you will be relieved of your eczema symptoms. But there are numerous types of eczema – ten of them, to be exact. And no single cream can effectively relieve the symptoms associated with these ten types of eczema. If you want to get rid of your eczema rash, you have to be able to assess your symptoms so you can make a good choice as to what topical dermatitis cream works best for you.

It may come to your attention that a topical dermatitis cream doesn’t seem like a treatment that’s appropriate for eczema. It sounds more like it belongs to a line of dermatitis treatments. But is there really a difference between dermatitis and eczema?

Our skin has three layers. The innermost layer is called the adipose which is comprised of adipose tissue which is made up of fat cells. On top of that is the dermis where the skin’s appendages can be found. Then, serving as a protective barrier against infection and water is the epidermis – the skin’s outermost layer. Just by the term dermatitis – with derma meaning “skin” and itis meaning “inflammation” or “infection” – it is easy to tell that it is a condition that can affect any or all of the skin’s three layers. Simply stated, it is the inflammation of any of the skin’s three main layers.

On the contrary, it’s hard to tell what eczema means especially since it has no root word like that of dermatitis. Although eczema is medically defined as any skin condition which involves the inflammation of the epidermal layer. In conclusion, eczema is a type of dermatitis that is limited to the skin’s protective layer and so dermatitis treatments like topical creams can therefore treat eczema. Of course, not all of these dermatitis creams work their magic on all ten types of eczema. Considerations have to be made about what type of eczema you have and what symptoms you manifest.

The common eczema rash is characterized by itching bumps on the skin. These bumps are usually red, indicating that there is inflammation underneath the skin. However, only two out of the ten types of eczema have these symptoms and these are contact dermatitis, and xerotic eczema. Contact dermatitis or eczema allergies result from exposure to allergens like food and environmental factors (animal fur, dander, pollen, and the like). Often, symptoms appear right after exposure to an allergen. Xerotic eczema is unique because it is the only one that’s triggered by the weather – particularly, the cold winter. Elderly patients with this condition are the ones who usually manifest red itchy pimples.

For red bumps that itch, topical dermatitis creams that have anti-inflammatory properties are the most appropriate. These treatments counteract the inflammatory process as soon as they are applied to the skin to be absorbed, resulting in the reduction of swelling and itchiness in the area. Basically, topical creams may or may not contain steroids. Steroidal creams are not advisable for long-term use though because they have negative effects on the body. Infants and children with eczema are also should not use these steroidal creams.

Two more types of eczema – dyshidrosis eczema and dermatitis herpetiformis – present the most unsightly symptoms. It is only with these two kinds of eczema that there is blistering. For eczema dyshidrotic, topical dermatitis creams that have steroids are not advisable. Creams that contain zinc oxide are preferred because of the relief that they provide without the disadvantages of topical steroids. Dermatitis herpetiformis, which causes chronic blistering throughout the body is practically treated with oral medicines. The same goes with autoeczematization or atrophic dermatitis, as well as with neurodermatitis in which there is a chronic recurrence of body rashes and itching.

The remaining four types of eczema which are atopic, stasis, nummular, and sebaceous dermatitis share almost the same symptoms involving the appearance of patches of dry skin. People other than the elderly who have xerotic eczema also have this symptom. Dry itching skin from these types of eczema is best treated with mild topical creams that relieve dry skin. These creams usually have moisturizers in them as well as anti-inflammatory ingredients to fight off the inflammation caused by eczema.
