Identify Bug Bites this summer, know what to look for and stop the Itch with Blue-Emu Anti Itch Cream.

As the temperature slowly starts to climb north, we all start to venture out of the hermit shell from which you have lived under for the past winter months. Starting off in our yards doing clean ups and preps for our long awaited spring/summer return. For me, I progress into the closest wooded trail or local national forests as much as I can to enjoy Mother Nature’s beauty. No matter what your yearly hermit ritual might be, one thing every park and yard around the world has in common is BUGS.

Their existence can summons fear and irritation from just a thought, and even worse, is the fact that they have the ability to leave an irritating reminder of their existence if so happen to become one of their unlucky victim. Bugs have the ability to bite and sting their victims, which in return, can cause anywhere from mild to severe dermatitis on the surface of our skin. From microscopic, unseen pests, to the in your face buzz around your ear, you can almost start to feel them crawling on your body as I describe their pestilence. Every pest carries a distinct skin irritation trait that can usually help identify its culprit, even if you were unaware at the time of its bite. Here are some quick common insect irritations occurring your own backyard!

-MOSQUITOS VS. SPIDER BITES

Mosquito bites leave round, slightly irritated, puffy patches with a tiny red dot in center that has an itch that last several days. In comparison majority of spider bites that are non-venomous carry a distinct painful swelling, red welt that looks like a “target” with the bite location lighter than the rest creating a “target like characteristic.”

-CHIGGER VS. TICK

Chiggers and Ticks are identical when it comes to site of irritation. However, Chigger bites are usually characterized by afflicting its host in multiple groupings of tiny irritating bumps. Chiggers are harmless other then the itch and irritation you occur. Whereas the tick infection irritates only one spot and that’s usually where you find him still latched on to your skin. However, if they infect and come detached without your knowledge, they leave a slowly growing bulls-eye rash that can be associated with fatigue, fever, chills, headache, and swollen lymph node. These are normally associated with a tick borne illness and you should seek medical attention as soon as possible.

-FLEA VS. FLY

Flea bites occur usually with two to three small bumps on your feet, ankles or legs, each with a small red dot in the center. They are raised, red and itchy, and they continue to irritate you over the next several weeks. Whereas, a fly bite can start off as a tiny painful spot, to enlarged areas of swelling to the size of a golf ball, in some cases. From Deer fly to Black fly to Sand fly they are all over our world so be aware!

SCRATCHING ONLY MAKES THINGS WORSE!

Unfortunately, this is the worst thing to do for all insect bites/stings! Aggressive scratching, can easily lead to instant relief but it also makes you susceptible to even worse secondary infections. All irritations ranging from minor to extreme, itch to painful, there is one path to choose for all around instant in the spot relief and that is a good Hydrocortisone cream.
