Fantastic #freefrom cafe in Stafford – The Mad Hatter’s Tea Emporium

This place is amazing. If you’re travelling to Stafford and have allergies or are a coeliac you MUST visit for lunch.

It’s a lovely, homely, friendly, family-run cafe who were proudly displaying their certificate for their Shortlisting in the FreeFrom Eating out Awards. These guys were winners in my book and I was winning all round.

My friend Tanith discovered this place for me and I was so completely bowled over by the whole meal. For my main I had a very simple but scrummy bubble and squeak. I could never normally order a meal like this without worrying but the whole menu is gluten free. They cooked all the food from scratch and completely understood allergies.

Really tasty Bubble and Squeak, ham and egg for main #glutenfree #dairyfree #soyafree #nutfree

Just look at that perfect runny egg. Mmmmmm.

And the cake! I’d travel all the way to Stafford just for their cakes. I could try FOUR of the cakes so I had to have the chocolate one, tasted Tanith’s Lemon Drizzle and immediately had a huge case of cake envy, and took a box with some of the sponge home with me.

There were FOUR cakes i could try here - all #glutenfree #dairyfree #soyafree #nutfree

All the cakes were also wheat, gluten, soya and nut free! I’ve never seen so much selection of cakes in a cafe. You had to be quick. The one I had my eye on was snaffled by the lady before me in the queue who bought the whole cake! There were some cakes that were also egg free too so there really is something for everyone.
I’m sure I also spottee some freefrom scones but we didn’t have room for a cream tea 🙂

Thank Tanith for taking me and thank you to the Mad Hatter’s Tea Emporium for feeding me. I loved it!

I really did feel like Alice in Wonderland. The decor was really fun with quirky tablecloths and the perfect pretty plates, cups and saucers, that made for brilliant food photography!

Please suport these guys. If you’re in Stafford you’ll find them on 5 Princes Street, Stafford, ST16 2BN. I can’t find a website but they’re on Trip Adviser with very good reviews. Top marks to the Mad Hatter’s Tea Emporium 10/10.

Has anyone else been? What did you have?

Allergy Blog Of The Year – Sponsored by Asda Free From our headline sponsor

Allergy Blog Of The Year Award category is for the allergy blog that has gone above and beyond and has helped people with their advice and support in regards to allergies.
I've been nominated for the UK Blog Awards 2017

This is exactly why I blog. To share things I’ve learned, help others and raise awareness of what it’s like living with with allergies, eczema and asthma.

It can be lonely place but I want to help people see that having life threatening allergies should never stop them doing what they want to do.

It’s constant and never goes away but you CAN embrace challenges and live a healthy and positive life.

You just have to be VERY organised, plan ahead and ALWAYS go prepared.

A bit like an SAS spy, ready for that allergen to get you at every corner, never letting down your guard.

I also like to rant when I see injustice or unkindness shown to anyone with allergies, eczema or asthma. If you know something is wrong or dangerous don’t stand by and let it happen. Fight!

Thank you all those who stand and fight beside me. You know who you are. And thank you to all my readers over the five years I’ve been blogging. It’s been so much fun and I still have so many ideas for blogs so please keep reading…

Voting opens tomorrow, 1st October so please get voting 🙂

PS. The copywriter in me really wishes that ‘I’ve just been nominated’ banner said ‘an allergy blog’ not ‘a allergy blog’ but I am trying not to turn into grammar police as well as allergy ranter…
